500 Rule doesn't work with newer cameras?

For example, on my last late-night shoot, using a Nikon D750, I shot at 17mm, f/2.8, ISO 2000, for 15s.
Any modern DSLR can get star photos, even with a kit lens. Get out and experiment. You don't need the rule, you need to take a few test shots and tweak your settings.
true, but how newer cameras are able to manage that sensitivity is a whole new ball game.
