Leaving images on a memory card for long term storage?

You’ll be fine, your only risk you have is potentially losing the card.

Malcolm Unger wrote: When you format a memory card, all that data is zapped away, which means this isn't permanent. Right?  Or am I mistaken?  Which means there are things that can wipe the card clean.   :)  Like I said, interesting stuff!

If you format a card, everything can still be accessed using appropriate software until new data overwrites it.

That same assumption is why some criminals get caught. Hitting the delete button on a file or email doesn't not necessarily make it disappear entirely. :)

I'm such a clumsy gal and would be concerned that I would misplace small cards.  I'll stick to RAID

I never leave images on my card, once I'm done, I download and then re-formate the card.

Assuming you don't loss the card, the data will be OK.  Personally I store my stuff on WD Passports.
