Best places to photograph in Spain?

4 years 9 months ago #652719 by Greg Friedman
First let me ask, would you rather go to Spain to photograph or Portugal?  I'm leaning towards Spain, hence the title.

If you think Portugal is better option, then convince me with what to photograph there.  We are looking at an early September trip for 11 days.

Appreciate the help!

Greg

I think the best place I've been to in Spain for photography is Segovia. It's only 30 minutes from Madrid on the fast train or 2 hours on the cheaper one, but I'd say it's worth staying for the night.

Also around Madrid, Toledo is a nice place to photograph.

Near Barcelona, I really liked Montserrat monastery, which is built at the top of a mountain. It's a direct train from Barcelona and a cable car up to the little village.

This is assuming you're interested in historical architecture.

I don't know Portugal too well, but I know Lisbon is very photogenic.

I think all those small cities without trees make me sad but
with trees, it is more difficult to enjoy their cool architecture.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Spain has some of the most beautiful coast lines in the world.  I encourage you to explore those during sunrise.  A good starting point would be Lighthouse at Punta de Capdepera.

Enjoy!

OMG, the entire coast line is stunning and full of so much charm.  How much time will you have to spend there and look around?

…and if you can, the Alhambra palace and fortress complex rebuilt
in the mid-13th century by the Emirate of Granada, awesome!
