Salt water mist and cameras

Surfer photographers, have you had any problems of prolong salt water mist exposure to your camera gear?  I spent all day yesterday at the beach photographing surfers and when I got back indoors, I noticed a film over my camera and lens.  I had already been wiping my lens a number of times while there.  But honestly didn't think about it.

G'day Tim

Yes matey ... I have the same experience too
When I return home from a surfing session, I take a damp soft cloth and wipe all over the body & lens outers [not glass] several times until I am happy that all the salt coating has been removed. The glass gets a squirt of lens cleaner and appropriate lens tissue/cloth until it no longer shows any streaks

ps- here's one of my recent surfing pics for you to enjoy :)

Hope this helps

Lens cleaner on micro fiber cloth and wipe off gear, you’ll be good.

Put your camera in a plastic bag with a hole cut that fits the lens exactly.  You can use a UV filter to hold it to the lens.  When the shoot is over, throw the bag away.

When I go to the beach to shoot, I always carry at least 3 microfiber cloths.  They get gunked up fast with the sea salt mist.

Thanks all, BTW will you ever use one of those camera covers at the beach for long day shoots?
