Photographing Jupiter without a telescope

Is it possible to photograph Jupiter without a telescope?  I was just looking at one of those 1300mm lenses on Amazon and wondering if that would work to photographing Jupiter?

G'day Remy

You always need to remember the old phrase ... "you only get what you've paid for"

The lens seems to me to be an early model manual operation zoom lens - using the well known "T-mount" system to bolt it to your SLR body. Nothing wrong with that - back in film camera days, it was very common to do this

I have my doubts about the quality of the 2x converter, but you might pull the rabbit out of the hat and get a good one

Bottom line - it ain't all that expensive ... and it might be a good talking point around the camera club as well :)

Do your self a favor, click the one star reviews on that page and then make decision from there.

In short, as pointed out already, you get what you pay for.

You can photograph Jupiter without a scope, but it'll just look like a bright star. You didn't mention how detailed you want your image.
Anyway, you don't want that "lens", and its too slow to get a sharp image without a tracking unit, Jupiter actually moves across the sky pretty fast.
As stated above, read the one star reviews....

Why so serious?

I was looking at a lens 'like' the one you are looking at a few years ago, and I was advised against getting it.

Besides if you are looking at getting Hubble like photos, it's not going to happen.

Imagine if you could get quality for that price? WOW that would be awesome!

Too bad that isn't the case.
