50mm lens 30 day challenge

4 years 7 months ago #659658 by Chris Curran
Thought I would share a cool idea.  I have a few friends and I who have our small private photography club.  I guess "Club" is a stretch.  But the 4 of use meet up every couple weeks and go shooting and have fun.  So the month of October will be a 30 day challenge where you can ONLY shoot with a 50mm lens.  This should be fun, and interesting.

So, thought I would share this with you.  You might enjoy challenging yourself with a 50mm.

I could do a day, but not a month, especially October with just a fifty.....

Why so serious?

Can't do, I have clients that wouldn't be excited about 50mm being used because I was in a 30 day challenge to use this lens.

I know photographers that the only lenses they ever use is a 50mm. Is the closest one to the human eye, the 50mm f1.8. What's exactly the challenge? It obviously depends on what you plan on photographing, but generically speaking, you have to move a lot and get used to the higher shutter speed to compensate the typical over exposure.

I love my 50 mm lens, but wouldn't want to try using only it for 30 days. It would be too limiting for me. Now, if I only worked in my studio for the 30 days, maybe I could force myself, but even there I would find it very "limiting".
