Dealing with hunger during long photography events?

Well here is a first.  So might as well jump on the forums and rant for answers or feedback.  I just worked a gig that was 10.25 hours.  About mid way though, I started to realize there was no break  possible.  I was the only photographer hired for this event, and there was no food to eat, plus the person who hired me was no was to be found.  Heck, running to the restroom was  test of speed so I didn't miss any shots.

What would you have done here?  No meals were coordinated.   If I left, it would have been missed shots.

I'm almost tempted to charge for this.  Every other job that went heavy on time, the hiring person provided snacks.

What do you think?

I know that to work well I should feel well and that means
urgent need like food, drinks, cooling from the heat or even
the restroom. I know too well the predicament but one has
to find ways to cope with it all because events won't wait for
anyone.

Müsli bars and others are easy to squeeze in your bag.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I think you need to be sure you understand the event, and put these details in your contract. Having a break is not unreasonable, and you will, by definition, miss shots. What kind of event was this, that you had to be on for 10 hours non-stop? I can't picture a single thing that wouldn't allow for at least 2 breaks.

That said, you carry energy bars with you, perhaps B complex shots. And you should by hydrating, which, by definition, implies a breather.

That's a ditto, always take a nutrition bar, a sandwich, a protein drink, etc for those times....

Why so serious?

OMG I have so many snacks in my bag.  But what kind of people don't schedule you any time to eat?
