Computational photography the future of professional cameras?

I was watching this video...

Which got me thinking about the advancements smart phones have seen from computational photography, so could we see more and more of this technology blended into our professional level of cameras?

Speaking of which, can you imagine an iPhone camera one day being so powerful that it's a legit professional camera because of computational photography?

That future would be the end of creativity… as I see it!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

A huge part of creativity is in composition, angle of shots and timing of the shot. I just got the Pixel 3XL and the photos are amazing. Since the 4 is now out, not sure what they can add but the 3 is amazing. That said, the creativity is in the areas mentioned above.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

No. Software advances are great (and expected) but there's more to it than that.

Yes agree, however every story has an origin.  I believe we'll see a pivot in the course of photography during the next 5-7 years.  Just a gut feeling on this one.

Just imagine where phones  will be at in 5 years from now.  iPhone 17.  Think we'll have camera sensors over 50mp?  I think so.

You're clearly not an Apple fan boy. Apple has made it clear that 12MP is more than enough, now and going forward. And given the size of the sensor, there's a physical limitation to what can be done and still get usable data.

No, not 50MP in one of those tiny devices.

An iPhone sensor is 5.6 x 4.2 mm. A full frame sensor is 36 x 24 mm. That's almost 37 times the size of the camera sensor. Which means that a 50MP phone sensor would be comparable to a full frame sensor with 1,837MP.

Aside from the absurd idea that anyone needs that, I'll just suggest that I've made my point.
