Any military or veteran photographers here? Son wants to become photographer...

My oldest wants to become a photographer for the Marine Corp.  It's been so long since I've been in, plus things have changed so much too.

As a military photographer, is that a dedicated MOS?  He loves photography, but also wants to join the service doing what he loves.

I wasn't sure how that works with military photographers.

Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Hi Macon,

Welcome to the site.  I spent 8 years in the service, however not as a photographer.  I started out as 12B and spent last 4 years as 96B.

So I can't comment on what your son may or may not experience as a photographer in the Marine Corp.  Actually I have a brother who was a Marine.  He might know.

I did find this video about 25V MOS... this might help you

Hi Macon,

Several years back, a member who was a Marine photographer posted the following thread.  It's been six years or so and I don't know it she's still around.
