Help finding good used gear

5 months 3 weeks ago #667842 by jdubspace
I have been working with a Nikon D3000 for a few years now, and by working I mean having it sit in a box. I just got back into photography and would like to improve my gear situation. My main use case will be for scouting events, some will be outside in direct sunlight, others will be inside pavilions at low light. I currently have a NIKKOR DX AF-S 18-55 mm lens.

I was looking to find a new to me, used body that I could keep my current lens as well as a 50 mm f/1.8 lens and a telephoto lens (something that goes out to 200 mm as I'm not always right on top of the action, but would like to be able to get a shot at distance).

Can someone recommend to me 1) good places to look for used gear that would fit this bill and 2) whether my current search for a used D5500 or D7200 is the right choice? I'm hoping to find something in the $250-300 range for the body.

Thanks!

Also check photo site market places, and the big sellers all deal in used gear.....then there's ebay.

Why so serious?

True, but the problem with ebay is the crazy fee's you get charged.

What are you talking about? The insertion fees are practically non-existent now (they have sales often) and I find that the final value fees are quite reasonable for the service provided.
