Victoria or Vancouver Canada?

4 years 4 months ago #667877 by Alex
I'm looking to take my family up to one of these two cities in 2020.  From a photographic standpoint, which of these is a more interesting city?  Likely in February.

Thanks for the insight.

Both have their attractions.  I always felt like Victoria was more old school charm while Vancouver was more modern attractions.

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

A bad day at the race track is better than a good day in the office

Yup, Vancouver is a bigger city and that's why I preferred Victoria when there about ten years ago.
Both of course have lots of shoreline, Vancouver is closer to more rugged mountains.

Why so serious?

Victoria, hands down.

Island (um, ferry ride!)
Small
Old world aesthetic.
Butchart Gardens (one of the top gardens on the continent)

Not that I don't love Vancouver; I do. It's a great city. But it's a large, Americanized, albeit full of nice people, city.

Go with the old world charm any day of the week.  Victoria for me.
