What would be the point?

IOW, without a reason, why? There are reasons for various systems, but certainly not as a fashion statement.

Photography-related? Travel. Pure and simple. Unrestrained travel.

I do have much consideration for that old brand but never
had the certitude it could support my working ambitions.

I'd buy a few Nikon lenses and a body upgrade, no need to go insane though. A big lottery would add a ranch to my estate though.
