Some venues you attend don't allow certain cameras by guest or lens beyond a certain number of inches.  As asked in the title, is there a Camera size restrictions at Olympics?

Probably, you'd need to look on the official website for the Olympics. I've done sports and events and there seem to have been tighter restrictions in policies at many venues or with teams in more recent years in an effort to protect their product.

I've not attended the Olympics, however I would bet there would be some sort of lens restrictions.

I know the NFL (or at least the Vikings) have a limit of lenses that extend to no more than 6". I would be surprised if it's not something similar. I would assume there has to be a page of venue policies and restrictions somewhere.

The really idiotic thing about this policy is that, in order to get a decent photo, you have to be on the sidelines using a 400mm or longer lens. Some clown in the stands with a 70-200 simply can't get a comparable image. It's just ridiculous.

I wonder what a Nikon P1000 could do? Probably better, and they wouldn't look twice at that camera.

I can take my 70-200 into a Twins game with zero issues. But that's the only of the professional/college teams where that's the case. Unfortunately, with the safety issues and extension of safety nets I can't get night clear shots of the batters from down low like I could just a couple years ago. Stupid safety... ;)

Its also about licensing of photos, and the nfl/mlb/olympics, etc need no competition from the suckers in the stands that payed the big money to see the games. It has little to do with safety.

Why so serious?
