Do you ever read the Camera Manual?

4 years 2 months ago #671932 by Crazyguy
I'm doing a little spring cleaning early and found my manual.  Which I hate to say, never read.  I'm feeling an urge to read though this, mainly because I flipped through it and found some interesting stuff about my camera I didn't know!

I can't be the only one.

Let's be frank, have you read your manual or have you just used it for reference?

OR are you like me and had no clue where it is.

Living out in the country, and since internet, I always
have to order my gear from my favourite stores and
download the related PDF from the makers site.

In the case of the D850, for example, I had to wait for
a month and that gave me the time to study thoroughly
the book — this is called the RFM strategy.

The exercise has proven beneficial every time though it
has the secondary effect of killing the christmas kind of
anticipation.

Yes, I always do — and keep it handy in the studio on a
dedicated bookshelf with all the others.

G'day mate

Mine lives alongside the keyboard - gets referred to maybe weekly for some little thing or another- and goes into the motorhome every time we head on onto the highway (ie: for weeks at a time each time)

Never read a manual like a book, but I do usually keep them handy as I get familiar with a new camera.....

Why so serious?

G'day fellas

+1 here too
After a 'pretty good' read before buying and soon after buying, I regard the manual the same way as a cookbook ... look up something for a qwik reference, check it out, and put the book away again

I have the additional 'worry' in that I am also tutoring other Panasonic users internationally, and when they chase me as 'what's this button do?' sort of thing.  If it's not a button / function I know well, I need to read all about it, do some experimenting and checking, then respond to them in a way that they can understand what it's all about

I think most are using it as reference on call.  I know I do, and looking at the other answers.  I'm on par.
