EVF lag in mirrorless cameras a thing of the past?

Earlier mirrorless cameras has issues with EVF lag.  Has that been pretty much fixed and a thing of the past?  Are these as good as optical view finders?

Though they are way better than in the past and are to
the measure of the great majority of needs, it is still not
enough for extreme requirements but getting closer.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

They are better.  You can see how the exposure looks.

Which camera manufacture do you think has the best EVF systems right now in 2020?

G'day Neil

I'm using EVF systems every day and have for many years ~ and love 'em

I do not recall EVF lag as being something I see - so had to fire up the camera and try to recreate the effect .... and yes, managed to do so

Okay- in daylight, I can sweep the camera side to side as though I am doing an action pan shot > and there is zero EVF lag to be seen
Doing the same indoors, it's fairly dark, exposure meter is giving me 1/4-sec x F3,5 x ISO 800 - as I pan quickly from side to side it looks a bit like a movie flicking past my eyes. I ponder as to how many people / times one would be fast-panning in the semi-dark and using 1/4-sec shots anyway

I am using the Panny FZ-2500 these days - it does not show any EVF lag during "everyday use". Its AF-C mode with EVF is fully operational up to 7fps at max of 20-mpx image capture. In AF-S mode with EVF is fully operational up to 12fps at max of 20-mpx image capture.

If I activate the "4k" hi-speed shooting mode of 30fps and also pan "vigorously", as I pass sideways across vertical lines (picket fence / concrete roof tiles) then I can see some jitter .... but in real life, I would be using this for something like BIF or following hi-speed movement and I would be concentrating upon the primary subject, not looking for EVF image jitter.

Overall mate - it's more than good enough for me and as I have said in other posts - optical VFs have got their place, but overall cannot match a good EVF

Hope this helps
