Setting copyright in your camera

4 years 1 month ago #676794 by Duncan K
As I understand, we can set our camera to copyright our images from within the camera.  I'm guessing this is just embedding this information in the EXIF data right?

But doesn't each of your photos need to be registered in order to obtain statutory damages?  Is there a way to automate that?

Yes, in exif! Once you enter your name it will be automated, until you remove it.

Why so serious?

But do you need to register each photo in order for that photo to be protected?

Yes, according to our idiotic government, for full protection under the law.

Note: in the US damages with unregistered images is limited to what the asinine Congress decided was suitable. You still have to register, and no, you can't automate it. It requires money, titles, a spreadsheet, and you're limited to 750 images per batch.

copyright.gov for all the info you need.
