Need gift idea for photographer turning 50

4 years 2 months ago #677101 by ShutterGuy
What are some gift ideas for a photographer turning 50?   This is our photography Meetup director.  We have a budget of $250.  But trying to come up with something for a low budget so far has yielded novelty items.  Can you help with some recommendations please?

G'day mate

From your brief description of the person & job description it is hard to be too specific

However - if this person has conducted or overseen a variety of photographic activities or projects, what about a coffee table book showing the photos relating to and also the results of the projects?

Hope this helps

How about a gift card for his favorite camera store. Any amount, and he is certain to appreciate it.

G'day mate

I'm going to return to my first response to your question with a slightly different take upon the subject

I'm in my mid-70s, long out of the full-time workforce and the things that I enjoy are often the memories from the coffee table photo books from years ago.  Other 'stuff' like cameras, lenses, tripods come and go, wear out, get lost, whatever, but the books in the loungeroom bookcase get admiring views from visitors as well as me.

It might only be once or twice a year, but when someone opens one of these books and full of enthusiasm asks for details, it instantly brings back memories of the visit / the project / the activity and so on

So- if you want something to be kept and revered for years to come, my suggestion would be the book
