500px owned by Chinese or Russian company?

I thought 500px was owned by Chinese outfit, however another photographer was telling me they are owned by Russian firm now?  Since when?

I believe it is... It never was a US company, it was out of the UK originally maybe? or was it Canada?

Scroll to the bottom of the site, that's usually where you can find that info. If it's hard to find I'd say that's a big red flag.

Yes, it's not easy to find... I clicked on Licensing since these things are usually in Terms & Conditions, etc. It says Visual China Group, and that sounds familiar since I saw something about this awhile back. I think it's a stock company in China that now owns/runs 500px.

Your acquaintance is misinformed. It's a Chinese company, per the above.

I was able to find it started as Canadian company.  Interesting.

It started as a incubator company in Canada, then picked up from China based firm.
