Do manual lenses pass through meta data to the camera?

When you are using a manual lens, do these still give the camera meta data?

If one is referring to the image data of EXIF and if one doesn't allow the camera to communicate with the lens, then No data is saved from the lens, simply because the camera and lens connect or talk to each other via the connecting points if one converts to manual using manual lenses, there's not connecting points on the lens side. Only on the camera side.

Edit.

Wanted to correct something.. Although the lens isn't talking back to the camera. The actual lens data isn't saved like what lens is used. However, the camera being set to a particular setting f/2 etc this data would be saved. Only the lens data or information is not saved or regisitered.

Hi Tim,

if you mean an older lens, then no because it contains no
chip to record and transmit any info.

Some modern lenses may be manual — in terms of focus —
but do talk to the body.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Here's a for instance.

Canon EOS M6

ƒ/2.8 1/10s ISO 6400

Whats missing is the type of lens and at what focal length. For that shot I used the 50mm lens.
