Gaffer tape that won't leave residue behind?

I'm tired of gaffer tape leaving residue and crap behind.  What gaffers tape are you using that doesn't leave any residue behind?

Nasty stuff it is… it only promise to hold it but won't let go!

I use ordinary masking tape for light work and short time and for
heavier and longer — in terms of hours — i use hockey tape.

Time is what permits the glue to harden so no long term solution.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I have a roll that's ok as long as I don't leave it in place too long. Don't recall the brand. Any tape will leave residue if not removed soon enough.

Why so serious?

ADDENDUM

The brand new roll will get old too,
so I keep them all in a ziplock bags.

Gaffe tape works well, and releases, as long as it is not left in place for very long. After a while it leaves residue, as you've discovered.

I keep mine wherever I happen to leave it, but don't have a problem if it's only applied for a few days.

Even painter's tape has a limited time for application.

Time limitation was touched already…

Temperature is the other point as the glue will lose much faster
its solvents in higher temperatures.
