Anyone shooting with vintage lenses?

Which vintage lenses did you get and why?

Do you need an adaptor or some sort of converter so the camera can recognize it?  Will it see the aperture correctly?

I'm guessing of course full manual.  Just new to this and would like to get some first hand thoughts.

Of the many old lenses that are kept in the props room.
the 55mm macro is still in use on my 4 digital cameras.

Yes, manual focus for sure but everything else is normal.
The exif won't recognise the lens of course.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I have been accumulating Nikkors since when I was shooting with an F2sb. Let's see: 15mm f/3.5, 24mm f/2, 35mmf/1.4,  58mm f/1.2, 85mm f/1.4, 135mm f/2.. Most see regular use, the 15mm, 58mm, and 85mm more than the others. The 35-200mm is very compact (and very good IQ) and great for travelling. I not only use them with a D3s and aD7100, but also with a Sony A7IIs, with a metabones adapter.

I believe my Nikon micro 200 f/4 D  is now vintage, so yes to the original question.

Why so serious?

I have a plethora of older MF lenses and older AF lenses as well. The AF can be used in any mode on my cameras. The MF ones need to be shot in either "M" or "A" modes on the DSLRs I have. My favorite lens is an older 105mm F2.8 Lester Dine Macro (my niche) from the mid-1980s. If you enter the focal length and maximum aperture of the lens in the menu system, you will get EXIF info. As long as they are F mount, no adapters needed. Lenses of other mounts need adapters but due to registration differences, they will also need a lens in the adapter to maintain infinity focus. I stopped using other mounts as there are plenty enough F mount lenses out there that work better than adapted lenses.
