Smaller apertures and eliminating defraction

I have a question regarding smaller apertures.  Once you pass f/16 you start getting more issues with defraction, right?

So -

1. Anyway to use smaller apertures like f/18-f/22 with out defraction?
2. Lightroom lens profile fix, does this completely fix defraction?

Makes you wonder with all the lens advancements, why not remove this from happening?

No Brody, no software can.

Because it is physics, diffraction is always there — at any ƒ stop.
1, One will increase DoF with smaller apertures BUT will lose sharpness due to diffraction
2, Luminosity bands will be recorded as well but they fade away fast so a lesser problem.

If an extremely small aperture is required to get something into acceptable focus, the improvement in sharpness will greatly outweigh a loss of sharpness from diffraction.  Large format camera users like I was once upon a time dealt with longer lenses than 35mm users we often used small apertures (up to f64) to manage depth of field.  I can assure you we got spectacularly crisp and sharp images diffraction and all.
