Laowa 24mm probe lens is water proof?

4 years 3 weeks ago #680947 by ShutterGuy
I'm looking for a lens that can be submerged under water and will take sharp and clear photos.  I have done a number of searches and this long tube like lens from Laowa is the only one I can find.

Do you know of any others?

Would you happen to know, or can you verify that this lens can be submerged in water and be OK?  There is a light on the end of this, is that drawing power from the camera or does it have it's own power?

You do know they have a website, right? Which answers all of those questions?

Hey that is pretty amazing.  Thank you!

LOL

The main question I wanted is how well does it work under water.  And are there any other lenses I should consider.  I guess I could have layered the question different.  Hoping that someone who has this lens or another recommendation comes along.

Thank you regardless

Can't help you with that, but I own the 15mm f/4 macro, and it's very well made. I'm very happy with it. So I give their quality a  .

I've heard good about their 12mm from a neighbor who shoots real estate if that helps you.

That lens is pretty nuts looking.  Even the case looks like it's ready for business.

All of Laowa lenses are manual focus right?  That being the case, how do these lenses in general compare to other manual focus 3rd party lens manufacturers these days?

The are manual focus. But you haven't asked a specific enough question.

Comparing to Zeiss? Leica? Voigtlander? Rokinon? IRIX? Lensbaby?

Compare how?

That is a funny looking lens, what in the world would you use that for?

Suggest (again) going to their website and looking at some of their videos. It appears to have great utility, being able to get into places that a standard lens could never.
