Thoughts on a fill light under front of a hat?

3 years 10 months ago #686415 by Finn
Happy Thursday

Would you happen to have any suggestions on how to fill the shadow that shows under a baseball caps from brim?  This is for a full body shot, however under the hat is super dark.

Tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Two easy solutions:
1, flash right under the lens
2, bouncing reflector.

Have a good time!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

To expand on the above:

A (large-ish) reflector just in front of your subject to bounce light back up, or a (very low power) flash in the same location.

Do some googling. I tried to find a good tutorial showing the use of a reflector, but most of them only show the results, not the technique. Here's one clear example:

A reflector will generally look more natural unless you are very experienced with using strobes and know how to soften the light from them.
