KEH has a D+ BBB rating?

What happened to KEH?  They used to be regarded as the place to go to sell your used gear?  On another board, I was reading someone who received a payment from them, and the check bounced.  I couldn't believe it.  They referenced their BBB, and didn't believe it.

 I'm shooked.

I read some of the complaints against them. There will always be an issue at times but then you have something like this. One woman complained that KEH wouldn't pay her the online quote because KEH falsely claimed the equipment was damaged. KEH came back and said the camera and lens were wrapped in paper and packed in a Saltine box without filler material when it arrived. The camera and lens bounced around inside the box in its paper wrapping.
One old guy was raising a stink because they wouldn't send a refund for a damaged camera he received. After much going back and forth because they couldn't find a record of his transaction, it was discovered they weren't the seller. I suspect it was supplied by them but the purchase was with Amazon. There are some interesting stories on there.

Interesting to say the least! Anymore the ratings seem to be all from the complainers. Sometimes they bought the wrong lens, other times what they're complaining about makes no sense. I don't go by ratings much, I've seen lousy ratings, 1 star, on Amazon for a reputable seller I've bought from plenty. A lot of this is on the buyer, not the seller.

Like someone who buys a manual focus lens and then complains that it doesn't autofocus.... I read the negative reviews no matter where I purchase from as many are just frivolous and needlessly put the sellers down.

Some people are just idiots.  I would hate to be in that sort of business, you likely have so many people who don't read, and then act all suprise that what they got doesn't have 'autofocus' as in your example.  I've used KEH and MPB, they both do a very good job.  Used is used and shouldn't be mixed with new.

Honestly, I had no idea it was that bad.  Like others have pointed out, I suspect this industry is hard to make everyone happy.  If you are in doubt, use MPB or B&H used department.
