What was the reason Samsung jumped out of the camera market?

Seems like they had a good thing going and they had a solid camera.  They can't be hurting for money.  So why did they jump out of the camera market?  I'm kind of surprised no one didn't buy the assets and rebrand their cameras considering all the time and effort that went into making these.

Yeah, Samsung is a giant in the cell phone space, however when it came to cameras, their market share just wasn't that.

I don't mean to be negative here, but Samsung didn't have much presence in the DSLR world.  They are largely known for their cell phones only.

Canon 5d Mark II • Canon 24-105mm F/4.0 • Canon 135mm F/2.0 • Canon 50mm F/1.8 • Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 • Canon 580ex ii

The only thing I can think as to why they did this is simply because it wasn't profitable to them.
If manufacturing cameras was really that profitable then I'm damn sure they wouldn't give up on it.

Ask yourself - When was the last time you ever saw anyone with a Samsung DSLR camera?  Personally I never even saw one of their cameras.  There you go.

So did they sell off the technology to someone who rebranded the camera?
