When did you start carrying a business card and called yourself a photographer?

I know I'm far from being able to get hired as a photographer, however that is a goal of mine.  I love photography and hope one day to make money from it.  But at what point did you start to carry or have business cards printed and called yourself a photographer?

What was that tipping point?

I have learned so much from this board over the last year, thank you all!

I think business cards are worth having at any point.

I define "professional" as being able to produce an intentional result on command.

I think that you create a business entity when you're ready to offer your services for compensation. Which often has little to do with skill.

I think that you become a photographer as soon as you become intentional about creating images. As opposed to "taking snapshots", that is. Which has little to do with running a business.

Gary brings up a number of good points.  There is nothing wrong with having a business card on you even right now. If you are mentally invested in the game for the long haul, go for it.  Your business card doesn't need to have anything else other than your contact information.  If you want to get creative, include the title "Aspiring Photographer".
