Adventure photographers - would you do this hike?

3 years 9 months ago #691453 by NickSano
This morning I was watching different camping videos and places to travel to for hiking and camping.  YouTube decided to show this video to me.

How nuts is this?! Can you imagine trying to pull this off with camera back pack??

Would you do this?

Really amazing video. I know this is very hardworking the job. If any mistake he dies instant. This work not easy for all. So proper training should be need. However, I'm afraid of hiking. So I don't do that.

Those heights are what had me frozen.  But yes this guy is doing a good job one handed and holding the camera!

Oh god no.  I got the butterflies from just watching it.

My knees are not to that level anymore,
and my stomach never was.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

An interesting video, but I can understand why you all react to it the way you do. It didn't bother me at all when I watched it.

55 or more years ago I might have done this without hesitation. Back then I maintained aircraft warning lights and antennas on towers, smoke stacks, water towers, and other high structures. Height didn't bother me much, as long as I had something solid to hang onto.

But there was one 384' tall FM radio broadcast tower that had no guy cables on the top 80' because they would have interfered with the antenna signals. On a very windy day, that top section swayed a lot in the wind, so it didn't really meet my need for something solid to hang onto, and I was never very happy when I had to work up there on a windy day. Oh, the tower was on the peak of a 1,400' mountain too, with barely enough room for the antenna base, transmitter shack, and 2 cars up there.

I consider myself to be adventurous, but not a chance would I walk on that.

I'm a crazy @#$%^, and you couldn't pay me to walk  that path.  Nope, not going to happen.

Some of those people who are following that guy look like they have no right being there.  I'd do it, just not with a ton of stuff.

Heck yes I would!  Like previously mentioned, just wouldn't bring much with me. Body and one lens only.
