Can hot pixels be fixed in a camera?

3 years 8 months ago #692281 by Sassy Girl
A friend of mine just picked up a new camera.  Well it's not new new, but she bought from someone on ebay.  It would seem there is a hot pixel issue going on with it.  I honestly don't have any experience, or at least enough technical experience to help.

Is the camera a lemon or can a hot pixel be fixed?  In all her shots, there is a white dot.  I told her I think this would be a hot pixel.  But what I don't know if this can be fixed.  If not, I recommended she try to return the camera.  As it was sold in 'like new' condition to her.

Thanks for the help.

Some cameras have a "remapping" feature. Check to see if it has one. If not, it would need to be sent in for remapping.

"Remapping"?  What is that?  Is that a big deal?

Actually I'm going to Google that now.
