Making $$ with stock video vs photos?

Anyone making $$ from uploading videos to stock video sites?  Like rivers, clouds moving, people walking, etc. ?

The "image bank" was a real business with employees
for marketing, copying, etc. It had to pay high overhead
costs inherent to their operations. All this is mostly gone
and it is now done online.

The internet was flooded with sites and pictures and the
offer exceeded 1,000 folds the demand… so prices went
down fast and dramatically.

I did not renew my contracts with four world image banks
as they ended in 1998.

1998?  That's a long time ago.  Were you film or digital at that time?

I was on film then, in all three major formats. I converted
my operation to all digital in 2011 starting with the D3X.

That must have been just stills back then right?  Video did gain traction as I understand till about 7-8 years ago?

Correct, Tony, just stills.

ADDENDUM

I think the D3X is the only high end body that had NO video capability!

The problem is the swarm of others trying to capitalize off the same hopes of making it.

True true true

I suspect it's a number game these days.  Upload a zillion video's and you'll make enough to cover your car payment each month.

I personally think it’s a very interesting topic. Similar to stock photos, there are also online services that sell stock footage for commercial use. These stock videos and “b-roll” clips are usually used by commercial video producers to complete their projects. If you are able to create professional videos of interesting subjects, you can start selling your stock footage through those websites and make money with videos right away. So you can obviously try it! Maybe you will need to change their format sometimes or storage them so that they won’t get a lot of memory, so here is a nice article about this aspects https://movavi.io/what-video-format-is-the-best-2/ .
