Covid guidelines for shooting portraits outdoors?

If I'm not working with large crowds or groups of people, but 1 or 2 people in outdoor photo shoot.  Just to be clear, I'm not stepping on any Covid guidelines?

If your subjects are from the same household, they don't
have to wear a mask or keep distance but you should keep
a minimum distance and eventually wear the mask… I do.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

You should check with your local authorities as this could be different from state to state

I built my photo studio last year, completing most of it by February 2020, just before COVID-19 became a problem. Because of the virus, the studio is now sitting unused most of the time. I had big plans for it, but my plans have mostly been put on hold. I have had a few chances to use it though, and the next big one is scheduled for Oct. 10. I will be doing a shoot of my grand daughter in her wedding gown inside the studio. Then I will be shooting her wedding outdoors on the farm on Oct. 24.

Since this virus situation started, I have been requiring "everyone" who enters my home to wear a mask, and since my studio is part of my home, further precautions are required. I do allow the person(s) in the photo shoot to remove their mask(s) for the actual shoot, but then they must replace the mask(s) as soon as the shooting ends. If we take a break, the mask has to go back on during the break. I keep my mask on the entire time. All surfaces that are touched by anyone not from my immediate family get wiped down with disinfectant before and after the photo session, and even the shooting area of the studio and makeup area floors, props, and furniture get fully wiped down each time.

For outdoor work I'm following the same basic methods. Mask always for me and my subjects, until actually shooting when they can remove theirs for the shooting time. I also wipe down everything that anyone touches before and after the shoot with an industrial disinfectant. I use the same disinfectant that is commonly used for cleaning restaurant tables.

Charley
