SURVEY — Right or Left Eye Shooter?

3 years 6 months ago #697739 by Nikon Shooter
I was discussing the advantages to shoot with an eye or the
other with a group. Many thought there is no difference and
I was arguing for the opposite.

— Are you a right or left eye shooter?

If one does not consider eye dominance but just the ergono-
mic of it, which of the two eyes offers the greater stability in
situations like panning, low position shooting, etc?

Light is free… capturing it is not!

G'day NS

To answer your Q ..... right-eye plus right-hand

SInce the 1960s, and with one exception, all 35mm cameras with an eyepiece have been made for right-eye / right-hand dominant users. The left-eye and left-finger shutter exception was the Exakta from eastern Europe. Today's digital cameras have followed the same 'right-side dominant' pattern

Most cameras have their eyepiece in the centre-left; some have it on the very-left side of the body, and all have the shutter release at the top-right of the body

Several years ago I had a student who had lost her right hand in an industrial accident - she held her camera upside-down and used her left thumb to activate the shutter

Mostly right-eye.  Occasionally have to use left eye when camera viewfinder / screen is in ergonomically awkward position .
