Reduction of image sharpness when using a teleconverter?

When you use a teleconverter, is there a reduction in image sharpness?  I know that you lose a stop or two of light, but what I'm trying to figure out, is if the sharpness is reduced?

Every time more glass to air is added in an optical system,
there will be image degradation and that is the reason I do
not use TCs… ever!

Since the beginning of my work in the publishing industry,
given standards prerequisites are on the table and I must all
meet them — critical sharpness is among those standards.

Many are using them to their own needs and satisfaction but…

Correct, the higher the modifier, the less sharpness you'll have.

When the last candle has been blown out
and the last glass of champagne has been drunk
All that you are left with are the memories and the images-David Cooke.

Yeah, you should go with the 1.4x or 1.7x
