Miniature Ektachrome Slide?

3 years 4 months ago #700946 by gfisher
Hi - I have a couple boxes of old Ektachrome slides that were probably made back in the 1970's.  The slides are tiny - the plastic enclosure measure 1-3/16 x 1-3/16.  They are in excellent condition and I would like to digitize them.  Does anyone recognize this Ektachrome slide format and know the official name for it?  A photo is attached.  Thanks!

G'day GF

Mount size - not seen before ... maybe Wiki can help

Film size seems to be 1/2-frame or similar .... whether Kodak had a special camera of that type I don't know

Digitising .... easy - set 'em up very carefully and just rephotograph them with your current camera

Hope this helps

gfisher,

one possibility might be " 110 " size .  The more important measurement to find out is the actual picture area ,   not so much the frame size .
Your present picture indicates the frame to be 1-3/16x1-3/16 ,  but  what about actual picture area ?   Can you measure the millimetres of the picture area ?  Is it something like 13 x 17 mm (bit more than 1/2 inch x bit less than 11/16 inch) ?   On that yellow Kodak box,  is there a number  110  printed somewhere on it ?

Over the years, I shot, processed, and mounted a lot of Ektachrome, but all in full-frame on 135mm film.  I have never seen a slide mount that small.  The standard overall dimensions for a 35mm slide mount is 2 in. x 2 in.  And the "window" would be just a bit smaller than 24 mm x 36 mm.

There is such a thing as a half-frame camera.  Using 135 mm film, it will produce an image area of 18 mm x 23 mm.

It could be 110 film.  That's a cartridge-based film introduced by Kodak in 1972.  Each frame is 13 mm x 17 mm. (.51 in x 0.67 in).

It doesn't appear to be a square aspect ratio so it's definitely not Kodak's earlier 126 film.

We need to know the dimensions of the "window" (the picture area) ... preferably in milimeters.
