How to photograph reflective surface with no glare?

3 years 5 months ago #702270 by Ben Howen
I'm trying to photograph something that is behind clear acrylic and I keep getting reflection and slight glare showing.  How can I take such a photo without getting the reflection or glare?

Thank you in advance!!!

G'day Ben

If it were behind glass I would suggest a CPL filter - but acrylic will show up its plastic moulding lines - :(

Maybe your best bet is in a darkened room, 2x lights @ 45deg onto the subject, while keeping the camera very dark - maybe even under a dark cloth to avoid any back reflection from the subject

Hope this helps

Hmmm, OK I will try this.  Does distance from camera to what I'm shooting play a roll?

thank you!!

G'day Ben

You are asking 'what role does dostance from camera make??.... ' and yes of course it does as you are dealing with a reflection.

Most photographers shooting where there is a reflection will back off and use their longest lens - ie- get a large image but a small reflection of themselves
