Buyer of photo was interested in camera that I used??

I've been selling photos as stock for better part of 2 years now and never had anyone care about what camera I used or even ask.

Last week, a company from Texas licensed 4 of my photos, however this was only after they learned what camera I used to take these photos with.

Have you ever had a company or client for that matter who cared about what camera you had?

That's one way of looking at it, seriously though, have you had anyone that concerned over what camera you used?

Honestly, I can't think of a reason other than perhaps they wanted to see if this was a professional camera to validate you being a professional?

Obviously, no pros… who only look at the print without
asking about the tools.

I once had a client who specified that his products be photographed with a Hasselblad.  I agreed.  The issue for me was that my medium format system was the Mamiya RZ 67, a superior camera to anything Hasselblad ever made.  I went to the camera store to rent a Hasselblad and the store didn't have any available.  He did have a 6X6 back for my camera though.  I bought it and finished the shoot with my Mamiya.  The client was stunned at the quality of images Hasselblad cameras made and thanked me for a great job.  I smilled and went on my way.
