Large prints

Happy New Year PT!

My Nikon D750 has a 24.3MP sensor.   Is there a way to know the limits in size I can expect for large prints that have good quality?  Now assuming you had a excellent lens being used, is sensor size holding the ability back for larger prints?  OR...?

Thank you for helping me understand this.

MPs are the essence of printing and its quality depends
largely on the size of it.

At 300 ppi, a 24.3MP sensor will give splendid 11"X14".
One may use lower ppi or even go for larger prints but in,
both cases, a quality loss will be noticeable the more one
will stretch it at the same viewing distance. HTH!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

You can print much larger than that with that camera and get solid results.

I always tell the story of the early days of digital when I asked a professional printer
to make an A1 print of a Canon 350D 8MP image.

It hung in a gallery.
People walked up to it and inspected the detail.

I asked the printer his secret. He said it is the increments in which you enlarge the image.
He did not want to share detail.

Jessa,

Don't know  if  you  have instruction manual for D750 ,
but  if  you  look up the following link , on page 118 is has table near top of page which shows expected print sizes in far-right column :

That link does not seem to get you to the right page. I looked around a little and still didn't find the table. I do not have the time today to look further.

I had two 8x10 photos of my wife competing in different equestrian events. One was taken by a pro using a Canon film SLR. The other was taken by me with a 3MP Nikon 880, cropped to about 2MP.

You needed an eye loupe to tell which was which.

LOL I read your Nikon 880 and was thinking, did Nikon release a new D850?

Fast reading doesn't pay off!
