Using back button focus 100% of the time?

Are you using back button focus 100% of the time?  I'm just starting to use and find I keep reverting back.  How long did it take for you to used 100% of the time.  Actually, are there any times that you won't use back button focus?

The first digital camera I got was the D3S a decade + ago.
From the first week, I understood the benefit of BBF and it
took me no time to adopt it with all further bodies — single
digits or not — that were purchased after.

Whatever the job, BBF all the way except on the repro-bench.

Yep, all the time.  Since the time I started, I haven't looked back.

Always seems to be an interesting debate. I've tried, but ultimately went back to using the shutter button to focus. I imagine some photographers workflows require back button focus, but I saw no point in it. But I just take images for fun.

Ok, I've tried BBF while shooting sports/action/wildlife with my Nikon D7200/Tokina 100-300/4, my Sony A77 II/Minolta 70-210/4 and my Pentax KP/Tamron 17-50/2.8, and can't understand what the big deal is. Everything BBF is supposed to do, I already get with a half-press of the shutter button.

Am I missing something?

... or are you?

Sorry my friend… you are but it's ok. We all had a first day.

Been there. Done all those things with a half-press.

All except the last one. Betting which way a bird is going to fly is pretty silly if you ask me. The bird gets a vote.

Further, Sony has DMF (Direct Manual Focus) which allows you to refocus after the camera is done. (I've never had occasion to use it with sports/action/wildlife shooting, though. Only with macro.)

If it works for her, and it works for you, then I'm ok with it.
