I feel bad for this photographer

In town today near the pond, a photographer was getting a young couple positioned for their engagement photo, when a child who couldn't have been much more than 5, bumped into his sitting camera and it fell 5 feet into the water, which was about 8' deep.  :pinch:   The mother ran up, but the photographer had already jumped in to get his camera, which was ruined as I could only imagine.

Ouch! Hope it was insured.

“Sitting camera” Does that mean it was on a tripod?

I hardly ever use a tripod outside, unless I go to very low shutter speeds.

Dang, that is unfortunate.  Now with fresh water, I wonder if there is any hope for the camera?  Assuming it's a professional body, with decent weather sealing.  Which I understand isn't the same as water proof, but it might buy the photographer time if he jumped in quick enough to get the camera.

My guess, that camera is toast.   Cameras are THAT waterproof.
