How are you able to afford new cameras when jobs are lean?

I saw a similar discussion on FB last week on this topic, I wanted to dive into it, however was late and now I can't find it.  So going to post this topic here to see the answers from others.

Jobs are lean right now, and there are lots of new gear out that is very tempting.  How is everyone affording this stuff if work is sparse?

Worked hard all my life.  If I want something I tend to get it.  Never been unemployed or claimed a benefit.  Had some real dirty jobs too.

Expensive stuff I'll do a lot of background research before I take the plunge.   Sometimes Credit Card, sometimes Finance but normally save and buy outright.

Life's too short to worry.  As long as my family are looked after (and the are) I'll treat myself.

When you kids are grown and out on their own, and you made good investments, you don't need to work for a living anymore can buy what you want, when you want, and usually with cash.

Luckily for me, all investments ended three years ago and were payed in full.
I can only imagine how difficult to still have payments to meet these days.

I just go further into debt

No seriously I have been fortunate that I'm able to keep busy.  Now that said, business is down a bit for me.  But I still able to give myself a little play money each month.
