Testing weather sealing on older cameras?

Anyone happen to know how long cameras weather sealing is good for?  Cameras that are 10 years old, would the weather sealing still be good to take camera out in elements?

If you are concerned, testing by taking it out in the elements may be a disaster. Contact your camera's CS and ask. Maybe they can reseal it for you, or tell you how long that it should remain safely sealed from the elements. 

I'm doing very little outdoor photography lately, but purchased a rain hood to protect my camera in the Weather, even though it is quite new.  It is quite roomy and seals well around the lens hood. I think it would even hold one of the extra large DSLR's like a Canon 1Dx without a problem. The top and back are clear plastic, so you can see and operate the camera controls easily. The bottom has a double zipper, so it's easy to pull it over a camera that's on a tripod without removing the camera from the tripod, and the zippers on the bottom can be closed toward the center leaving room for the tripod to still be used. Each arm hole has draw strings to control the size of the openings, but they also slope downward to keep the rain/snow/dust out. Although I haven't put it to use in bad Weather yet, I'm quite convinced that it will do a good job
of protecting my camera, yet still allow me to use it. I now carry it in my camera bag, so I have it wherever the camera is. At $20 I think it's great insurance.
