My neighbor sold all his camera gear 11 years ago...

Yesterday he just ordered nearly $8,000 worth of new camera gear!  He's back because we went out on a hike and I let him use my Nikon Z6 and he was hooked!

What was that old 'A-Team' motto?  I like when a plan comes together?  LOL

Why did he sell his gear to start with?

How exciting!  I can semi'ish relate to this.  My dad who has been out of photography since the film days, jumped back into photography because I was so into photography.  This was 2 years ago, but he was out of photography nearly 30 years.  He's hooked again, every other Saturday we go on a hike together with our cameras.

I know a couple people who over the pandemic returned to photography.  Photography can be a zen experience and distract you from everything else that is going.  You create the world you want with your lens.

$8000 really isn't much these days.  Let me take that back, $8000 can go quick these days on camera gear.

Sony A7r IV and a couple lenses.  R5 or R3 and couple lenses, heck Nikon Z9 or Z7 and a couple of lenses.  $$ goes quick when you need everything.

D300| Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 | Nikkor 70-200mm VR 2.8 | Nikkor 50mm 1.8 | Nikon 2x Teleconverter | Sigma 105mm 2.8 | Tokina 12-24

$8000 isn't a lot?  I don't know about that.  Average body will set back $2500 or so.  $5500 could get 2-3 lenses from there.  $8000 grand is $8000 grand.

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

A bad day at the race track is better than a good day in the office

I'm excited to come back to photography after a 3 week break because I was sick with Covid.  I can't image what that is like coming back 11 years later!
