Do you under expose photos from camera?

I’ve heard a few people saying that they under expose photos from their camera.  I’m curious why when you can do the same in post?

The powers of post processing are very impressive but only
under the condition of properly exposed recordings. PP will
not do miracles on burnt areas.

The whole thing is to protect the whites at all costs… that is
what I practice and teach.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Depends on what I'm shooting, but most of the time, I like to underexpose a tad, I just like how it looks.

It all has to do with the light meter and yes with what ever is
set in front of the lens… even NDs.

Light is free… capturing it is not!
