Finding fair market value for used camera gear?

I’m helping a friend list their old camera gear they have for sale, as they want to move towards another complete brand.  How are you finding out the fair market value for used gear?

See what similar products are selling for. KEH and MPD prices are usually not negotiable, but are a good indication (taking into account the value of the warranty.)

Probably the best indicator of the fair market value of an item is the winning bid of the same or similar item on eBay. You need to be johnny-on-the-spot, though, because that info doesn't hang around long.

Craigslist doesn't show the final sale price that may have been negotiated during actual contact between the buyer and the seller. eBay is a better source, but the actual winning bid isn't public for long.

With all the shortages with new, has the used market seen any increase in prices?

Always price shop with the big box and cross reference your usage to their inventory.

Only you know your gear, take these prices and leverage your gears condition.  Make sure you get a fair rate.

Depending on what you are selling, used market is hot right now.  Many new cameras are back ordered, which has forced prices up on certain older stuff.  Just saying.
