Destination wedding pricing etiquette?

1 year 5 months ago #745278 by Joslyn
When it comes to destination wedding pricing etiquette, is it OK to have the client pay for ALL your cost?  Flight, hotel and food?  Food is the one I'm not sure about.  Technically you would be eating if you were home, however were it gets tricky is while on location of destination wedding, food will cost more.  So is it OK to charge for 100% of food cost?

You're not on a junket, why itemize? I would just estimate the total cost, plus profit.

What about your total time away from home? How many other shoots are you missing because you are away? You are leaving your business for several days to do this for them. This isn't a favor you are doing. It's a business transaction. I would quote a full daily price for the expected trip, including everything plus profit, as @Razky said.

Great, that's what I wasn't sure about is how granular is it OK to charge for.  Understood.  Thank you both for the insight.

My wife does destination weddings and she charges for everything and of course has her profits added into the equation as well.

I'm curious, aside of what was listed above, do you any of you charge more in general for destination weddings?

Yep, charge for all added expenses, make sure your time is covered.
