Selling used camera equipment to B&H?

2 months 3 weeks ago #745936 by Crammer
I was reading another photographers post on Facebook earlier this week who had claimed that B&H offers more money and better terms for people selling camera gear over KEH and MPB.  With this coming from the internet and from one person, I'm taking with a grain of salt.  But, I'm not going to discard the possibilities this may be a true statement.

Have you sold camera gear to B&H?  How did that experience go for you?

You will do far better advertising your surplus on Facebook Marketplace or one of the bulletin boards of photography forums like " Fred Miranda"  www.fredmiranda.com , but you will need to join and pay to be able to advertise and post photos on that one. This seems to keep the "troublemakers and spammers" at bay though. You can join free, but without paying you will be limited to viewing and posting without posting photos. I haven't used B&H or Adorama for this, but have heard and read several horror stories about both when it comes to what you get for your trade-ins, and how poorly your stuff gets treated if you don't accept their offer and want it returned.

Most of what I have and no longer need has been given or sold to other photographer friends that I know. Being part of local photography clubs can be a benefit here. Some of what I have that I no longer use is so old that I probably couldn't even give it away. I went totally digital in 1998 and still have one of my first digital cameras, a Sony, from back then. It keeps a shelf from floating away most of the time now, and it collects dust very well, but it still works. I have given or sold away just about everything else no longer needed. I think I still have one speedlite that is that old though.
