Depends on where you live. U.S is "Neyecon". Some other countries use "Nick on" and some use "Knee con"

For me, who once owned Nikon Cameras, I have always pronounced it "I", as in the name of the letter "I". The stable is now full of Canon cameras.

I once took my Nikon S2 to a camera shop in Yokosuka. There was a significant language barrier, but it was clear that he wanted to buy my camera while I was there to buy lenses.

What was clear was his pronunciation: Neee-ko.

G'day Pete

This word -along with many others- as spoken around the world will change its phonetic emphasis along with regional differences in pronunciation

In Downunder-land the camera name is mostly said as "Nik-on" whereas in many U-tube videos from the US I hear it pronounced as "N-eye-kon" - so when locals hear that we roll our eyes and mutter under our breath about 'bluddy-foreigners' :p

Except in Japan (and possibly elsewhere in Asia) where they say Neee-ko.

I went to high school with a guy whose last name was 14 letters long and only had one vowel. During the first day of classes, the teacher was taking attendance by reading each student's name on his list, when each of us simply replied "Here" or "Present" or some other smart-assed remark as high school boys are want to do. When he got to this boy's name he just stared at the list for a moment, when this boy shouted "Here." The teacher looked up from his list at the boy, and asked "How do you pronounce that?", to which the boy replied "Smith".
It turns out that his grandfather had a boatload of money, and would disinherit any of his offspring who changed their name. So they didn't change their names, just how it was pronounced. (In actuality, their name meant "Smith" in some distant eastern European country, so it wasn't exactly incorrect to pronounce it that way.)
So it was his name, and he could pronounce it anyway he wanted.

The Japanese pronounce it Neee-ko. It's their name, they can pronounce it anyway they want, and the rest of us are wrong.

But if we want to be understood within our community, we need to mispronounce it in accordance with the local lexicon.
