When can we get a good lens cap system?

I've managed to lost 3 lens caps in the last couple of years.  I walk around a lot or go on hikes rather and always seem to lose the things.  I'm almost tempted to leave the caps in my camera bag.  So annoying.  Not to mention the foolish price they charge for these things!

I too have this problem. I have been using the short leashes with the stick-on buttons to attach to the face of the lens cap that has an elastic band at the other end for attaching around the lens. They work, most of the time, but the dangling lens cap does get in the way sometimes. The Chinese brand that I got recently also has bad glue on the lens cap end, and I have lost two lens caps that just fell off the end of the strings.
So I recently found and bought some lens cap holders that attach to the camera strap through Etsy. The seller was Zandalay Industries. These are designed to fit lens caps from three different sized lenses. When I tried using them, the lens caps kept falling off. Looking carefully and comparing to the lenses showed that the caps grip to the filter threads on the end of the lenses, but these lens cap holders do not have the mating threads for the caps to grip to. The hole in the holder is just a 58 mm or other sized straight hole with smooth sides.

When complaining to Zandalay Industries about this, they offered no solution, and offered only to refund part of the money that I had paid for them. They did not want these cap holders returned, but they are completely useless as they are made. So far, Etsy has been no help with this either, so don't buy these lens cap holders from this manufacturer. They are junk.

I may go back to putting my lens caps in my pocket, but prefer not because of the lint so easily picked up when I keep them there.

Huh?  LOL that is for dog food lids.  Are you saying this will somehow fit on the lens?

Thank you, are these sold on Amazon or do you happen to have a link you can share please?

These seem to be the best ones. There are others similar. I doubt the camera strap lens cap keeper will be any better than the one that I tried, but it's only for a 72-77 mm lens. The one that I bought came through Etsy and was supposed to be for three sizes of lenses. It didn't hold the caps at all for more than a minute or two.

Here is the link for the lens cap leashes that I've had the best luck with. There are other listings, but one cheaper source sold me some that the button did not stay glued to the lens cap. These listed below have worked OK, for now. I'm still looking for a better solution, but haven't found it yet.

Altura makes great padded lens bags too. Easy to see in your bag because they have a purple ridge around the open end of them with a draw string closure to keep the lens from sliding out, and a snap hook to allow attaching to a belt or harness.
