Photography gear to bring to Turkey?

Hello all, next month I'm flying Istanbul Turkey next month for work, but going to be there for a few days.  My concern is two things:

1. What gear should I bring, and will my gear be safe as I'm talking around?  I'm thinking I should just go lean and mean with one camera body and wide zoom lens.

2.  Are there any spots that you know of that are off limits to photography?  I seem to recall that Thailand for example, or perhaps its Singapore, there are religious temples that are off limits to photography, and if you photograph them, you can get in trouble.

Would you happen to know if there are any areas in Turkey like this?

Canon 5d Mark II • Canon 24-105mm F/4.0 • Canon 135mm F/2.0 • Canon 50mm F/1.8 • Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 • Canon 580ex ii

Isn't Turkey on a no fly zone for Americans right now?  I would go there with extreme caution.

Are you still going there considering the horrible earthquake that hit the country this morning?  You might want to reconsider your travel plans.

So sad to see the loss of life and damage there.  Heart goes out to all the people.

Yeah, thanks everyone.  What a tragedy with what happened over there.  We have cancelled our trip there.  Our prayers go out to all the people there!

Instead of all the money going to the war in Ukraine, it would be nice to see the world chipping in and helping out Turkey after this tragedy.   Such a shame.

I don't need no stink'in Signature! ha ha ha

Climbing to 40,000 people who have died.  Such a horrible experience, so many thousands are displaced from their homes.  Sad situation there.  Unless you can help clean up and serve the people, I would stay clear from there for now.
