Wedding/engagement - photo book question

2 weeks 14 hours ago #749930 by Frost Photography
Let me get your opinion on something.  For photo books I use BayPhoto or sometimes Printique.  All my clients have been super happy with their photo books to date.  I have a bride that wants me to use a company she found, something I've never heard and from the look at the pricing is very cheap.

I haven't responded and think I'm going to try to avoid losing the gig and state that I prefer to work with the companies I use as they have a degree of quality that I feel good about standing behind.

That sound good to you?  I would like to think that is something she would appreciate.  But then again, she is making a budget decision and frankly if the book falls apart 4 months later, I don't want to deal with it.

Just be honest about it and tell her you cannot guarantee her company's quality. The client's wishes ought to be your first concern.

Agree, but disagree.  Be up front with them, but stick to what you feel comfortable standing behind.  I personally wouldn't compromise where my work is going into.  Stick with quality photo books.

If a client insisted on a company I was not comfortable with, I would only agree to the shoot and let the client deal with their company.

I'll recommend the companies I use for photo books, if the client declines, however buys digitals, they are free to publish those photos in whatever book they want.  But most will take my recommendations as I set up each book for them.  Full turn key.

Yeah, I'm going to say the same thing.  Shoot the gig and leave the client to get their photo book on their own.

I admit, I'm the same way.  If I haven't dealt with a brand and can confirm it's a solid option, I'm going to pass.  If that turns out like crap, the consumer will likely forget it's their recommendations.  So either work with the brands I like, or buy the photos and do with them as you wish.
